Qatar Exchange Index Breaches 13,000 Mark

Qatar Exchange (QE) index broke past the 13,000 mark Tuesday to close trading at 13,100.44 points, up 110.44 points (+0.85%).
Two days short of seven weeks back, the QE index recorded an all-time high of 13,694.19 points on May 29 following the MSCI upgrade to emerging market status.

The index continues its upward graph this month, up from 12,383.21 points on July 7 to 12,990.4 at close on July 14.
Today the traded value reached QR 568,989,734.12 with a volume of 10,897,854 shares from 6,177 transactions.
The Qatari bourse saw movement of 40 firms today. At close 31 advanced, eight went down and one remained unchanged.

Qatari individual investors bought a volume of 5,283,796 shares of 40 companies worth QR 232,634,275.55 (40.89%).
Qatari individual investors sold a volume of 5,372,936 shares of 40 companies worth QR 239,733,932.91 (42.13%).
Qatari institutional investors bought a volume of 1,338,798 shares of 31 companies worth QR 75,679,274.24 (13.3%).

Qatari institutional investors sold a volume of 2,242,062 shares of 28 companies worth QR 132,414,287.37 (23.27%).
Qatar Islamic Bank led gainers from the banking sector, up 5.42% to QR 107 from Monday’s closing at QR 101.50.
Meat and livestock company Widam share was up 3.82% to QR 57.10 from Monday’s closing at QR 55.

All insurance companies ended in the green zone today.
Qatar Insurance made most gains, up 3.77% to QR 90.90. Al Kaleej Takaful was up 3.37% to QR 46. Islamic Insurance was up 3.27% to QR 82. Qatar General Insurance was up 2.91% to QR 45.90 and Doha Insurance was up marginally by 0.99% to QR 25.60.
