Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, Etisalat, has donated AED2.5 million to provide drinking water for 100,000 people in response to the U.A.E. Suqia, water aid, initiative launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to provide clean water to five million people worldwide.
Etisalat says it will be sending millions of SMS text messages guiding its subscribers to ways of making donation for the initiative through their mobile devices.
Through the SMS messages will also raise awareness of the charity initiative.
Saleh Abdullah Al Abdouli, Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat, described H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s new initiative as the latest in an ongoing series of generous gestures that reflect the U.A.E.’s commitment to offering humanitarian aid at home and overseas to millions of needy people.
