Saudi Health Facilitates G20 Health Initiative GIDH aims for a global digital shift by 2025

G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting on Saturday, 19th August, launched the Global Initiative on Digital Health (GIDH) in cooperation with WHO.

WHO aims through GDIH to implement the Global Strategy on Digital Health 2020-2025 to support transforming health systems into digital through measurable indicators.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the WHO, thanked G20 and the Indian presidency for its technical role in launching the new GIDH.

“History was made today in the G20 health working group, as G20 countries not only identified the importance of digital health but also collectively worked to launch it,” India’s Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said.

HE Minister Fahad Aljalajel thanked the Indian presidency for continuing the digital health initiative which started during Saudi Arabia’ presidency in 2020. Further, he shared his country’s experience in digital health transformation and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as the SEHA Virtual Hospital.
