W Muscat has announced the conclusion of its very first DJ LAB – a W Hotels programme that mentors and develops emerging young talent.
Three of Oman’s young music stars were given inside access to the world of DJ’ing, spending four weeks under the wing of the hotel’s Music Curator, Armando. The tuneful initiative was part of W Muscat’s support for Oman’s up-and-coming arts scene and celebrated the brand’s love for the power of music to connect communities.
“I’m particularly impressed with the local Omani talent we saw come through this lab. DJing, and the wider world of music, offer limitless possibilities for creativity and help people express their individuality which we value highly at W,” says Gerald Chevasson, General Manager of W Muscat. “I’m very proud of the team for helping to develop skills and knowledge among local Omani artists and sharing their expertise with others.”
Selected from a group of applicants after pitching themselves via social media, Maisoon Al Jahdani, Tariq Said Al Mandhari and self-styled ‘DJ Chaos’ were acquainted with all the essentials of a career as a DJ. Designed to encourage DJ culture and unite musical artists around the world the lab provided mentorship and skill development in equipment and software, mixing techniques, and the basics of rhythm and recording.
