The Lighthouse, one of two licensed restaurants at Dubai Design District, has reopened with, for the first time since its inception over three and a half years ago, a daily dinner experience.

A homegrown restaurant concept created by founders and owner-operators Hashem Montasser and Hany Bassiouny, The Lighthouse serves up simple Mediterranean- inspired soul food with a nod to Middle Eastern ingredients – alongside a beverage list. A retail concept store, catering service, a podcast and event activations also sit at the heart of The Lighthouse’s experiential ethos.

A new daily dinner deal, ‘Sail The Med In September’ offers a special three-course menu, boasting a choice of six starters, six main courses and four desserts.

At AED 165 per person, the meal includes two mocktails or juices; the menu is priced at AED 200 per person with two glasses of house beverages. It’s available daily for dinner from 6.30pm, weekends included.

“The Lighthouse dining experience is all about timeless, classic dishes using high quality ingredients with everything made in-house from scratch including bread, jams, cream, chocolate and ice-cream. Value for money is also at the core for both food and beverages. Special dinner deal aside, which is valid any day of the week, our average cheque per person is AED 80 for breakfast, AED 120 for lunch and AED 250 for dinner,” says Hashem Montasser, co-founder and owner-operator, The Lighthouse.

Breakfast runs from 9am to 4pm daily, and dishes include the baked goat cheese pie with oregano, sumac and honey, spicy shakshouka with tomato, veal bacon and herbs, and French toast with berry compote.

Lunch is served from 12pm-4.15pm, with dinner from 6.30pm-10pm, and until 11pm on Thursday/ Friday. The lunch and dinner menus encompass soups, salads, mezze plates, sandwiches, main courses, sides, desserts, as well as daily blackboard specials.

The menu is engineered both for solo dining or for sharing in line with guest preferences. The Lighthouse follows the latest health and safety precautions in line with Dubai Municipality guidelines.

Dishes include the beef tartare with cream cheese on rustic Campaillou rye bread, falafel souvlaki pita, seafood risotto with prawns, calamari and pistachios in a basil tomato sauce, and grilled lamb cutlets with tzatziki and homemade pita bread. Those with a sweet tooth will find The Lighthouse’s Umm Ali with malt ice cream, passion fruit and yuzu cheesecake, and for something lighter, a classic affogato.

The restaurant also offers take-out using delivery aggregators such as Deliveroo and direct ordering on The Lighthouse’s Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and website. Single-use plastics are not utilised. For example, straws are made from paper and all deliveries use biodegradable PLA packaging.
