The Etisalat Group has been nominated for five prestigious Global Mobile Awards, according to an announcement from Groupe Speciale Mobile Association.
The nominated products and services include Flous, for best mobile money service, Mobile Cashier, for best smart retail service, women’s empowerment programme Weena, for best service in emerging markets, Etisalat Mobile Connect, for the best digital identity service and C’me, for the best mobile network based product. The winners will be announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on the 3rd of March.
“Congratulations to all the nominees in the 20th Global Mobile Awards,” said Michael O’Hara, GSMA’s Chief Marketing Officer. “With a new record of over 800 entries, the competition has been better than ever – reflecting the dynamic pace of growth and evolution across the mobile world. We look forward to celebrating 20 years of mobile achievement and innovation with all the nominees and winners next month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.” This year, Etisalat’s new commerce offering, Mobile Cashier, enabling merchants to accept credit card payments directly on their mobile phones, communication platform C’me that allow users to combine multiple media channels and social platforms under one application and Mobile Connect, a Digital Identity service that improves online security, have created new opportunities for the group to be recognised during the most important gatherings of telecoms companies in 2015.
Substantially extended in 2014, products such as Flous, the fully inter-operable mWallet service as implemented across the majority of group operations and Weena, an enablement programme designed by Etisalat to enhance the lives of resource poor women in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, are highlight’s of the group’s commitment to deliver market relevant and transformational services through the use of technology.
