HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani expressed Saturday his delight at participating in Expo Milano 2015 and inaugurating Qatar’s pavilion in the exhibition.
His Excellency noted that the State of Qatar participates along 140 countries and will look to share its view on issues such as food security and measures that the international community must take to provide food needs across the globe.
HE the Minister of Economy said that the State of Qatar will stress its unconditional support to the right to nutrition and clean water during its participation in the event.
Furthermore, Qatar will look to present its experience in the field of food security. The country will also share its ideas with other participants to serve the rest of humanity and the international community.
On participating in the event, HE the Minister said that the strong political and economic ties with Italy were one of the reasons behind participating. His Excellency highlighted the strong trade relations in particular, with trade volume reaching EUR 3 billion in 2013.
As for the Qatari economy, HE the Minister said that Qatar has maintained a strong growth of 6.8% despite the global economic slowdown. The financial and construction sectors in particular are booming, recording a growth rate of 11%. His Excellency added that the growth in the financial sector compliments the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Similarly, the country is also focusing on developing the infrastructure in preparation for the World Cup 2022.
